Just last year, GMC had given its modern day pickup truck, the Sierra 1500, a sweet makeover. The 2017 is GMC Sierra’s third year in the market, but this year, there is not much that has changed in terms of the appearance of everyone’s favorite pickup truck in Montgomery County.
The comfortably quiet cabin, multiple configurations, fuel economy and power are just some of the upgrades that the pickup truck saw this year. However, they all add to the appeal of the GMC Sierra 1500 that it has earned in the few years that it has been on the market.
Even though the changes and upgrades that were made to the 2017 GMC Sierra are minimal, it is still one of the best pickup trucks on the market today and gives good competition to rivals. Some of the drawbacks of the pickup truck are that the cabin might not be as spacious as that of rivals, and that the six-speed gear ratios are broadened too far for towing purposes.
Moreover, the 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 is currently on the market in four trim levels, namely the base, SLE, SLT and Denali. Each trim has its own specific sets of features, though the Denali is the most premium and prestigious out of the four.
The base trim of the 2017 GMC Sierra is the simplest of the four trim levels but even then it comes with a 4.3 liter V6 with a horsepower of 285 and 305 pound feet of torque, but you also get the option for a 5.3 liter V8 with horsepower of 355 and torque of 383 pound feet.
On the other hand, the SLE trim of the GMC Sierra brings in a backup camera, 17 inch aluminum wheels, leather wrapped steering wheel, optional telescoping column and upgraded infotainment unit. It is highly recommended that you buy the SLE instead of the base trim of 2017 GMC Sierra due to the fact that the little amount of additional features that it has makes it feel like something more than just a work truck.
The SLT and the Denali are the top two trims and have quite different features as opposed to the base and the SLE. The SLT comes with a 5.3 liter V8 engine, heated mirrors and seats (leather), and power folding. An option to choose a 6.2 liter V8 with 420 horsepower and 460 pound feet of torque is available with the SLT.
The Denali however, is the best out of all four, and adds 20 inch wheels, magnetic ride control dampers and unique interior appointments, all of which are exclusive to the Denali only. The pricing for the 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 starts at almost $46,000.
